Piano StoryGirls Night Out ~Piano Story~ compiled by Piano Master
Release Date: 7/15/09
Price: 2362 yen

The “sui-ren” remix turns out to be the Sunset in Ibiza mix, which is a tad disappointing. I would’ve loved to hear the orchestral version. FARM haven’t listed artists on the official page, but they do have samples up.

July’s biggest releases are now out, and full versions are up on iTunes:

Exit Trance presents Speed Anime Trance Best 7
Exit Trance presents Zenbei No. 1 Cinema Covers 2

Speed Anime Trance Best 7 is selling at a brisk pace, landing at 13th place on Oricon’s daily charts. It slipped to 15 yesterday, but I think it’s outpacing SATB 6. Cinema Covers 2 barely made a dent, but that’s typical for Quake’s non-anime releases.

It turns out that the final track on SATB 7 ended up being the Ryu* remix after all. And according to Quake, it’s an original song. Now I’m wondering where the original, non-Ryu* version will pop up. SATB 7 is pretty enjoyable overall, though their version of “Don’t say ‘lazy'” pales in comparison to the kors k mix. I’m not entirely sure what to make of “Shut Up and Explode,” either. It’s good, no doubt, but it’s also far too similar to the original. That said, MK, Starving Trancer, and B.U.S. brought the goods with excellent remixes of their respective songs.

As for Cinema Covers, I have four words for you: FOO YOU GONNA CALL? I don’t think I’ll ever listen to that song in the same way ever again. Other highlights include “Superman,” “Navras” (would’ve been better with the chanting, however) and, unsurprisingly, “Raider’s March.” Meanwhile, “Welcome to Jurassic Park” ended up being a bit of surprise. I was expecting them to reuse the melody already heard on Cinema Trance’s “Theme from Jurassic Park,” but they used a different motif as the basis, so it is indeed an entirely new song. The focus is also more on pianos, unlike the synth-heavy “Theme.”

So, remember, if there’s something strange in your neighborfood, foo you gonna call?

Anison Plus
Anison Plus × Anime*Dance Collection
Release Date: 7/1/09
Price: 2381 yen

Almost every song on the album is new. o_O There are a couple of inexplicable Akiba Koubou repeats, but as far as I can tell everything else is new. The highlights are new tracks from Aoharu, including a cover of one of the biggest anime song hits this year, “Cayagake! Girls”.

SAT Complete BestSAT Complete BestExit Trance presents UmaUma Dekiru Trance wo Tsukutte Mita Complete Best
Release Date: 7/15/09
Price: 2667 yen (Regular Edition) or 2857 yen (Limited Edition)

Oh, bloody hell. “Caramelldansen (Speedycake Remix)” again?! You’d think that Quake would commission a new remix for this special release, or at least use a remix that hasn’t already appeared a hundred times.

The album cover on the left is for the regular edition, while the one on the right is for the limited. The limited edition of the album comes with a special figure of “Miko Barusa.” Miko is apparently the name of the blue-haired character who was on the cover of the first two albums. Put the name in the traditional Japanese order and you get “barusamiko,” which I take it is a reference to a Nico Nico meme involving balsamic vinegar. Cute. The limited edition will be limited to only 20,000 copies. Meanwhile, the regular version comes with one trading card out of four total.
