Best of 2014 mixed by DJ Ryu-1
Release Date: 12/3/14
Price: 1680 yen
This appears to be the sequel to Best of 2014 -1st Half-, though the fact that they didn’t label this as -2nd Half- makes me wonder if it’ll encompass the whole year. Mixed by DJ Ryu-1.
Party Splash -Countdown Mega Mix- mixed by DJ Roc the Masaki
Release Date: 11/12/14
Price: 1800 yen
Sequel to Party Splash -Global Mega Hits-, and once again mixed by DJ Roc the Masaki. It looks like it’ll be a mix of AV8, Spinnin’ Records, and FARM artists.
EDM Revolution -World Dance Anthems- mixed by DJ Daiki & Kamiyama Seigo
Release Date: 11/12/14
Price: 2000 yen
Another new EDM compilation from FARM Records. This one will be mixed by DJ Daiki and Kamiyama Seigo. The early track list looks like it’ll be mostly Spinnin’ Records.
Maharaja ’80s Disco -30th Anniversary-
Release Date: 11/5/14
Price: 2315 yen
Well, this is a surprise. Just when I thought FARM were moving towards EDM only, they announce a tie-up compilation with Maharaja. What makes this especially odd is that Maharaja releases were usually Avex’s domain. Anyway, there are 26 songs planned, and apparently they’ll only be using the original versions (i.e., no covers).

DJ Kaori’s Best EDM Mix
Release Date: 11/26/14
Price: 2050 yen
The latest release in the hugely popular DJ Kaori’s Mix series, which has sold over 4 million copies over the years since its debut in 2005. This one will focus on EDM hits, though the early list looks really mainstream. You can visit the official website for more info on previous entries.
I Love EDM -Hits & Anthems-
Release Date: 10/8/14
Price: 1850 yen
New dance compilation from Universal and the possible substitute for EDM Anthem IV. As expected, 20 of the 29 tracks are repeats from previous entries in the EDM Anthem series. As expected, it’s part of the I Love Party series.
Big Paaartyy!! In the EDM mixed by DJ Fumi*Yeah!
Release Date: 10/8/14
Price: 2000 yen
New EDM compilation from FARM Records, featuring a mix of Spinnin’ Records songs and in-house covers. I love that it has a 3-minute megamix of 5 different mixes of Booyah.
Sound Drive -Driving Sound Art-
Artist: N.O.-SYO
Release Date: 9/15/14
Price: 2000 yen
New DVD from N.O.-SYO featuring pictures and videos of cars with his music playing in the background. It appears that it will only be available for sale on his website. The DVD comes with your choice of 1 of 4 stickers, or you can pay 340 yen more for all 4 stickers. The preview video kind of creeps me out. It’s like the soundtrack to a horror movie.
Urban Night Lounge presents Winter Driving performed by The Illuminati
Release Date: 9/3/14
Price: 926 yen
More piano house covers from Star Music Entertainment and The Illumaniti (DJ U*Hey?). This time the album will feature covers of Christmas classics, though it appears that The Illuminati will also be performing an original song as well.
Urban Night Lounge presents Sunset Driving performed by The Illuminati
Release Date: 9/3/14
Price: 926 yen
More piano house covers from Star Music Entertainment and The Illumaniti (DJ U*Hey?). Apparently this is a special CD available only at Village Vanguard stores. It’s 10 songs for 1,000 yen, though by the commercial you’d think it only had “Let It Go.” I have to admit it’s a very good cover, though.
Exit Trance presents Speed Anime Trance Best 22
Release Date: 10/1/14
Price: 2000 yen
Final list and cover art are out for the 22nd release in the SATB series. Only 17 tracks, but I guess that’s better than the pathetic 15 that SATB 21 had. Plus, at least they’re using up the whole CD this time. The total length of the album is a little under 80 minutes.
It’s a pretty balanced album, as Hommarju, Booing Day, Dizzi Mystica and plazma get 3 tracks each. MK gets 2, while Flash back dominant gets a single track. One of the big surprises here is the return of the Mars alias, last seen only on SATB 14. Also surprising is the return of Ryu*, who hasn’t been on an SATB album since SATB 15. Icon gets left out completely for the first time since SATB 11.
