Oooh, now this one’s personally very exciting. Renowned doujin circle, salvation by faith records, will be releasing a special Super Famicom/SNES remix CD during M3. Included will be themes from some of my favorite games like Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country 2, and my all-time favorite, Final Fantasy VI. Artists include Takahiro Aoki, who provides an awesome remix of Shin Megami Tensei II’s battle theme and hapi?, who’ll be taking on one of my favorite themes from Final Fantasy VI.
Vocal Rhythm

Spring M3 2014 is almost upon us, and I thought I’d devote a week to doujin dance releases. First up is a vocal dance album from MUZZicianz Records, which is headed by Takahiro Aoki. There are quite a few genres represented on this album. As listed on the website: Hardcore / Electro / Dubstep / ROTTERDAM / Speed Dance / Breakcore / Eurobeat. Standout tracks include Takahiro Aoki’s own “Time 4 Dance” as well as Hyuji’s Saifam-style “You Are the Reason” (which J-Trance fans may remember covers the same song as “Reason” by Lovers).
MUZZicianz Records has no less than 4 albums coming out during M3. There are samples of the other 3 albums on their official blog. Crisis Force 2014 sounds amazing if you’re familiar with shmups, while Happy Swing! inexplicably includes another cover of “Reason.”
Speed Star

The four foreign guest artists have been revealed for this upcoming Speed compilation, and it looks like I was correct in my guesses of JAKAZiD and Chris Bucknall. Surprisingly, Chris Bucknall is back with his old collaborator, Kristian Dee (previously known as Christian D, who provided the rap for CJ Crew’s Rhythm & Police). The other guest artists include 3R2 (from Taiwan) and Crash & D-Shark Feat. Bridson (from Ireland / Finland / United Kingdom).
Crossfade demos for both discs have also been released. I believe that both discs have full versions.
The CD will be available at the upcoming M3-2014 event in Japan, which is currently scheduled for April 27. I previously speculated that the album would be made available digitally (and the contest page still mentions it), but I see no mention of that on the current page.

Wow, DJ Hyuji has certainly been busy lately. In addition to the upcoming Speed Star compilation, RTTF Records will also be releasing a Touhou compilation with covers from ????? ? the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Included are three full versions from Konami’s Sound Voltex II.

What’s Up! 10th Anniversary Best ~ Dance Side / Hip Hop, R&B Side

Although the CD version came out in December, the digital accompaniments only came out in March. Instead of packaging all of the songs into one release, they’ve instead split it into separate dance and hip-hop/R&B releases for 1,200 yen each.
EDM Anthem III

Track list has finally been revealed for the third release in Universal’s EDM Anthem series. Coincidentally, it also features “Greyhound,” just like the third release in EMI’s EDM series. And just like Electronic Dance Madness, it has a random remixed Katy Perry song. Also interesting is a song from what appears to be a Japanese artist, Chronic Crank.

Speed Star

The winners of RTTF’s Speed Star contest have been announced. One of them is Argentina’s Francisco Gaitan, occasional Disko Warp collaborator and all-around Hyper Techno genius. He’s here under his MHX alias, and joins other winners XEN and FIG (apparently all winners were required to have 3-letter aliases). As a reminder, Speed Star is a 2-disc compilation featuring songs that are 170+ BPM. It should be a real treat for Dancemania Speed or Speed Anime Trance Best fans.
A good amount of the tracklist has been revealed, but 4 tracks from “foreign guest producers” are still under wraps. Assuming that the number of questions marks lines up with the actual artist names, one of the guest artists is most assuredly JAKAZiD, given that he’s collaborated with RTTF in the past. Track 1-2 could be “Chris Bucknall feat. ???????? ??? ? ????? ?”, but that’s just speculation/wishful thinking.
Also interesting is that the catalog number is RTTF-0010, meaning that DJ Hyuji intentionally skipped over RTTF-0009 for some reason. It actually annoys me when labels like Quake skip catalog numbers. It makes me dream of the possibilities of what could have been.

This is being billed as the second release in Universal’s I Love Party series, so I guess they’re forgetting that I Love Party Pop exists. The announced artists are the usual Universal fare, meaning Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Nicki Minaj. I wouldn’t be surprised if this had numerous repeats from the first two entries in the series.
