Geki Atsu! J-EuroGeki Atsu! J-Euro ~16 Ren Chan Version~
Release Date: 5/12/10
Price: 2284 yen

A non-stop mix featuring eurobeat covers of anime themes. As usual, it’s produced by Akiba Koubou. Quite a few repeats on this one, but new Kei always makes me happy.

You can watch the slightly NSFW promotion video below:

Anime Euro BestAnime Euro Best ~School Edition~
Release Date: 5/12/10
Price: 2284 yen

Eurobeat remakes of songs from school-themed anime populate this compilation from Dreamusic. It’s sort of a spinoff from Super Anime Remix. In fact, it has a lot of repeats from SAR, including some with different vocalists. Still, it should be worth it for two new Kei productions.

History of Eurobeat 1The History of Eurobeat, Vol. 1
Release Date: 3/22/10
Price: $8.99+

LED are … back? This new LED compilation was recently released on iTunes and other download services. Many of these songs have been available for a while now, but the last track caught my eye. It’s titled “In Rain and Sunshine,” and the artist is listed as Deja Vu & Tasmin. At first I thought that they had licensed an Almighty track for this compilation. However, the song is clearly eurobeat, and doesn’t sound like Almighty’s Tasmin. Could this be a new production, or just something left over from years ago?

Eurobeat 2000 ~Around 30s Best~
Release Date: 5/19/10
Price: 2848 yen

Victor never cease to amaze me when it comes to repeats. This latest cash grab features Euro Panic! hits from a decade ago. Would it really kill them to license new tracks from Saifam?

Anime Euro BestAnime Euro Best ~School Edition~
Release Date: 5/12/10
Price: 2284 yen

Super Anime Remix lives on! Well, sort of. Dreamusic will be releasing a new compilation this May with eurobeat covers of anime themes. “School Edition” refers to the fact that the songs will be taken from anime set in schools. I’m not sure why Dreamusic decided to abandon the “Super Anime Remix” brand in favor of “Anime Euro Best,” though I suspect it’s to make it clearer that the genre is eurobeat. It doesn’t hurt that the new title is more similar to EMI’s popular “Wa Euro Best” series. And yeah, the songs will once again be produced by Akiba Koubou.

Wa Euro Best 3Wa Euro Best 3
Release Date: 4/1/10
Price: 1886 yen

Wa Euro Best 2 didn’t sell anywhere near as well as the first WEB, but apparently it was enough to warrant a third release. Expect more pachislot, anime, and J-Pop covers. They’re really running out of Misa songs to use, though. The LED remix of “So So” is decent, but I would’ve preferred a new remix of one of her other songs.

Anime Max 2Anime*Max presents Joshikousei Band!
Release Date: 2/10/10
Price: 2500 yen

Previously known as Anime*Max 2. The new title reflects the fact that the album will feature an amateur, high school girl band. Honestly, 2500 yen for 7 songs is kind of a rip. Tracks 8-14 comprise a non-stop mix.

The album is produced by the makers of the first Anime*Max, but judging by the samples they’ve dropped the eurobeat/hyper techno sound in favor of J-Rock.

Gal Mama ParadiseGal Mama Paradise Vol. 0
Release Date: 2/10/10
Price: 1900 yen

Yay! New Kei song! Even better, it appears that “Plastic Heart” will be an original song and not an anime cover. Unfortunately, the rest of the album isn’t so new, composed mostly of repeats from Victor’s back catalogue. Some of the songs are listed as “GM Edits,” but it’s unlikely that they’ve been changed in any significant way.

Oh, and it has “Stay” by Wendy Phillips. Sigh.
