Oh lord, not this again. Apparently Christmas ga 100-bai Tanoshiku Naru Party Mix is the start of a new series, with Anison and J-Pop releases to follow. Chances are these will just be the same repeats we’ve been subjected to with the Utattemita Anison/J-Pop/Speed releases. No word yet on whether the 100-bai series will be under the Dancemania umbrella, but since Saifam and AKBK have previous ties with Dancemania I’d be surprised if they aren’t included eventually.
Utatte Mita no Hon Bessatsu exit tunes magazine

A special edition of Utatte Mita no Hon magazine devoted to only Exit Tunes. You can buy the mook either with a CD or with a CD+DVD. The CD will feature songs from Exit Tunes, including yet another cover of “Ama no Jaku,” this time by new Vocaloid, Mayu. The DVD will feature performances from the Exit Tunes Academy live tour.

Well, this is a shock. The original Anim80s came out in December of 2010 and was an incredible mix of Anime themes with 80s hits. It didn’t sell all that well, however, so it’s surprising that they’re giving the series another shot almost 2 years later. No word yet on which songs or artists will be included, but Akiba Koubou will most likely be producing once again.
Also, apologies for the intermittent updates lately. I’ve been a bit busy, and there’s been a drought in dance-related CDs coming out in Japan. If things don’t pick up, I may switch to updates every other day instead of daily.

Sixth release in the Utatte Mita series. They used to have 2 releases a year, but it looks like this will be the only release in the series this year. Interesting that they changed the logo, too.

Utattemita Anison/J-Pop Speed

As promised, I cooked up a little spreadsheet comparing BPMs, which you can find after the jump. BPMs were calculated using MixMeister BPM Analyzer, though I had to manually check some. The Anison album ranges from 160-180 BPM, while the J-Pop album starts at 150 and ends at 180 BPM.
DJ Hirocky did a great job mixing both albums, but in terms of energy Anison has a better selection of tracks. After all, half of the tracks on Anison were produced by DJ Command and many of the others were by Rayto/Tks. The J-Pop album suffers from starting off far too slow and, of course, having way too many repeats from the original album. If you’re new to Akiba Koubou, then these are certainly better options than the original Utattemita albums, but for long-time fans it’s yet another slap in the face.

Okay, EMI and AKBK are just straight up trolling now. This has 12 repeats from the original Utattemita J-Pop, and 6 of those are the same BPM as before. What the hell were they thinking when they made this? It’s a shame that all of AKBK’s “Speed” release have been so lazy and disappointing, because I LOVED the Geki Atsu! Drama Euro releases and thought this was going to be a banner year for AKBK. Instead, they’ve been running their repeats into the ground.
