It’s an Avex release with the word “Best” in the title. You know what that means: NIGHT OF FIRE! Also included are “Caramelldansen” and a bunch of other overexposed songs, though Avex took mercy upon us and didn’t put “Sousei no Aquarion” on. There are also a handful of new tracks, including a DJ Kaya feat. OHC remix, so it’s not a complete waste.

Full versions of tracks from SBT 09 are now available for purchase on various Japanese download sites. The only viable option for those not living in Japan is Avex’s own mu-mo service:

For info on how to buy from mu-mo, check out Mikaeru’s very informative thread on Eurobeat Prime. Keep in mind that the files up on mu-mo are mostly 128 kbps wma files that are DRM protected. The tracks are 150 yen each, and unfortunately there’s no option to buy the entire album, so if you want all of the tracks you’ll have to shell out 3300 yen.
Am I the only one pissed that Avex mostly put up radio edits? In some cases the edits on the actual nonstop CD are longer than the “full versions”!

“Tokyo, Go” is basically the same as before, except it has new percussion and the familiar “Viva la Revolution” sample that Shohei has used many times in the past. “Who Knew” sounds really good, though.

Avex appear to be using the broader definition of “dance,” so hip-hop and r&b songs are also appearing along with dance-pop, euro, techno, and trance. Still, unless there are some surprise new remixes, you’ve likely heard all of this before. In the case of “Night of Fire,” you’ve heard it many, many times.

The lineup really wouldn’t have looked that bad … six months ago. As it stands, I’m really only looking forward to the new OHC remix and possibly the “remix” of “Tokyo, Go!”

Two-disc compilation that celebrates 20 years of Avex dance. In other words, repeats galore! If you’re in the mood for even more repeats, Avex will also be releasing 20 Years 200 Hits – Complete Best Collection Box on the same day. It’s a 5-disc set, with 4 CDs and 1 DVD. Disc 4 has a nonstop mix of 50 dance trax, many of which will also be appearing on the 2oth dance compilation.
