Eurobeat remixes of Ayumi Hamasaki hits. Super Eurobeat producers are prominently featured, but Akiba Koubou are also responsible for some of the remixes. The iTunes release is identical to the CD.
Trance remixes of Ayumi Hamasaki tracks. Lots of familiar European producers, but Remo-con, DJ Joker and Heavens Wire also make appearances. Where’s Overhead Champion, though?
As with the House version, the Trance edition also has two different digital releases. The first includes extended versions, which are longer than the CD edits. The second features instrumental versions.
The seventh series of Ayumi Hamasaki remix albums, produced by the head of Avex himself, Max Matsuura. This CD focuses on house remixes by some well-known house producers from Japan and Europe. Avex are certainly milking this for all it’s worth, as there are two different iTunes releases available as well. In addition to extended versions, there are also instrumental versions available separately. So, to get all of the various versions you’d have to spend 2,500+2,400+2,400=7,300 yen O_O
House, techno, and electro covers of Famicom (NES) themes. I have to give them credit for not going with the obvious choices like Super Mario Bros. or Zelda.
They say the third time’s the charm, right? Binary Mixx Records have been planning a eurobeat vocaloid cover compilation since January, and this will be their third attempt at finally releasing it. Produced by Akiba Koubou, it’ll feature eurobeat covers of popular vocaloid songs. Additionally, it’ll have some well-known Utatte Mita singers doing the vocals. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while now. Let’s hope it’ll finally see the light of day.
2011 marks the 10th anniversary of Cyber Trance, and Avex are celebrating with repeats galore! Most of these songs were already featured on Super Best Cyber Trance, released in 2008, but never underestimate Avex’s desire to use the same songs over and over again. They could’ve at least commissioned new remixes to celebrate the anniversary 🙁

Artist: Usa
Release Date: 3/9/11
Price: 1905 yen
Utatte Mita singer, Usa, makes her major label debut in an explosive fashion! Here, she takes on classic vocaloid songs rearranged by Ram Rider and Akiba Koubou, who are represented by valle blanco, Sumijun, Rayto, and DJ Command.
Avex’s description for the CD seems to confirm that the “Wa Euro Best” series has effectively been transferred to them. It’s odd that EMI would give up on WEB since the Tokumori releases actually sold decently. I think Avex acquired the series too late, however, as sales for this compilation have so far been flat.
The final track list is a tad better than the early list, but it’s still laden with copious amounts of repeats. Mini-review after the jump.
Well, this is a bit odd. The final track list recently surfaced on the label’s official website, but it’s mysteriously disappeared. Listings on online shops have been pulled as well. Maybe they’re running into licensing issues? Let’s hope this release eventually sees the light of day, because it’d be really nice to hear new productions from Akiba Koubou for a change.
Another western-oriented release in the House Nation series. Sure, there’s a Daishi Dance remix, but what happened to all of the other Japanese remixers?
Arigatou Gojaimasu (Single)
Artist: Doz
Release Date: 12/8/10
Price: 1000 yen (CD Only Version), 1800 yen (CD+DVD Version)
Hip-hop comedy duo, Doz, get the remix treatment from Prog5, Overhead Champion and DJ Command. The song is basically the same three words sung over and over again. o_O
A new entry in the House Nation series with an emphasis on big-name Western acts like Ne-Yo, Taio Cruz, and yes, the Biebs. I was hoping they’d at least get House Nation DJs to do new remixes, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
